ST. LOUIS (AP) — St. Louis police shot and killed a juvenile after he allegedly led them on a chase in a stolen vehicle and pointed a gun at them, police said Tuesday.
A police spokesperson said that anti-crime task force officers spotted the stolen vehicle around 1 p.m. and tried to pull it over. Officers managed to spike the vehicle’s tires and after it stopped, two juveniles got out and ran.
The spokesperson said both of the juveniles were armed.
During a foot chase, one of the juveniles pointed a gun at an officer, who shot him, the spokesperson said. The juvenile died at the scene.
The other juvenile fell and still held a gun when he was taken into custody, the spokesperson said.
The name and age of the person killed has not been released. Police didn’t say if the juvenile fired any shots. The officers were unhurt.
A third juvenile who was in the vehicle did not run and was cooperating, police said.
